'Mango': the story
This picture by Bibi Euse is made in an extraordinarily happy moment, in the house of her late mother.
This happiness is important to Bibi: her intentions when taking this picture can be transferred to you.
She told me the touching story behind this picture, and it changed the way I look at it.

"I want a mango tree"
"When my mother decided to go to a calmer life, she bought this humble house in the Colombian mountains.
She went from being an engineer and working for a big company, to giving away all of her clothes and everything, and she would sit in her garden.
At some point she said, "I want a mango tree". She bought one and sat in front of it every day. And she dreamt of seeing that mango grow super big.
She passed away after two months, but the mango now is a monster. It has been eating all of the terrain and started growing roots underneath."
The baby mango
"I went to the house last year. I was super grateful when I was able to sit in front of the tree: I took over from my mother.
When the house would have to be removed, I’d probably fight more for the mango than for the house itself. It’s extremely powerful. I feel connected to it.
It is so powerful now, I talk about it often with the people that live in the house. It gives mango’s all year long: the whole neighbourhood eats them.
I accidentally found this picture from years back when the tree was small. It’s the last thing that my mother did, and she was super proud of it."
Just a picture
"Of course it's just a picture, but I see it with different eyes.
It’s a very powerful, colorful image. This tree will live longer than any of us in this planet: that's touching."
We finished the picture in two sizes and two frame colors. The biggest size has a white painted, wooden frame (Bibi’s favorite). The smaller size is framed in dark stained wood. This way, you can choose the desired effect for your place.
The small 'Mango' and 'Banana Plantation' are on view at Ego & Vertoon's Designer Loft in Antwerp; the big ones can be adored in The Co.lab in Mechelen.
